river medley alone between

sit beside the mountain stream
and watch time
flow with the fleet river's lapping
ripple rapids spill foam on the bank
days flow by the same

between the lines
her thoughts flew back to me
and what we were
behind the moon and dreams

listen to the water polishes pebbles
while the fleet river reaches
the surface of our dreams
time flows by the same

alone
at the edge of the world
the night wind
whispers
desolation

trees line the river bank
the sun spills through them
I walk in circles
days returning
fleet time changing
fleet river flowing
life flows on

Norman Allan and Diane Mascherin

as an exercise (at our poetry workshop, The Renaissance Cospricacy), Diane took three of my poems (bless her) - Fleet River, Chunky's Poem, and Deebie Says - and fitted them together as above.
