Teddie’s poem rewrit

Teddie wants to make a splash
and so do I
but the Hilton’s were hotels
where we stayed
or beyond us
oh we’d still ad hoc
in cafes and bars
with more than a dash of pizzazz 
           
but it ended in an empty place

you know I’ve still got your ring
and your spoon
though the cat’s sailed off
through Broadway
to a popular culture
and Possum’s book’s forgot

I’m with the dogs
fading into

ah
if only into history
